HKUDAA—HKU Faculty of Dentistry Mentorship Programme 2014-2015

mentorship graphicWe are pleased to announce the commencement of the HKUDAA—HKU Faculty of Dentistry Mentorship Programme 2014-2015, adapted from the HKU Mentorship Programme. The Inauguration Ceremony will be held at the Lounge, 7/F, PPDH, at 7:00 PM on 26 November 2014 (Wednesday).

This programme has been organised for Faculty of Dentistry Alumni as mentors and BDS IIIb students (Class of 2018) as mentee pairs. For a period of about 1 year, mentors will serve as role models, counsellors, or even big brothers/sisters in sharing a wealth of experiences with their mentees. Mentees, in return, can help to provide insight into the thinking and aspirations of today’s younger generation, while acting as another link to strengthen bonds between the Faculty’s Alumni, HKU, and PPDH. Through mentorships involving mutual participation, respect, support, trust, sharing, and understanding, our mentees will be able to reap many benefits in their educational, social, and personal growth.(see the poster).

HKU and the Faculty are keen to engage with the professional community, so we encourage Faculty alumni to enrol as mentors by directly e-mailing your name, degrees/years, contact telephone number, hobbies/interests, and preferred location/s (HK/Kowloon/NT) to dentke@hku.hk by 3 November 2014. A selection Committee from the HKUDAA Council will vet all applications and notify mentors before the Inauguration Ceremony. Please note that mentors and mentees will be formally admitted to the scheme only by attending the Inauguration Ceremony at the Prince Philip Dental Hospital on 26 November 2014.

Information on the HKU Mentorship Programme can be found at here. Please contact Dr Dominic Ho at hkudaa@gmail.com or Ms Sau-wan Cheng, Knowledge Exchange Officer of the HKU Faculty of Dentistry, at dentke@hku.hk if you have any queries on the scheme. We would like to take this opportunity to thank our Faculty Alumni for their support by volunteering as mentors, and for the time they will put into this Mentorship Programme. We hope both mentors and mentees find the programme very rewarding!
